Plot summary

Maggie and Frank Klassen are starting their married life in a community where young women have been murdered. A strange man begins following Maggie, and Frank, preoccupied with work that keeps him at the office, does not notice her growing fear. Then Maggie disappears, with no trace of her and no sign of a struggle. Frank blames himself for neglecting her and turns to Larry and to Maggie's sister for help. He presses the police constantly and clashes with Detective Forbes, who leads the investigation. Maggie is held in a small windowless basement room by a captor who controls her every movement.
