Plot summary

Dao Tian-du, the Black Tiger, is a tiger-style kung fu master whose cruelty keeps his town silent. While he is away, the Tian Nan Tiger sect storms his estate, kills his wife and severs both arms of his young son Dao Chang; Tian-du has prosthetics fitted and trains the boy. Years on, he abducts the children of those fighters and sets them against Chang, who breaks their limbs. Tian-du has Wan beat two men who laugh at Chang's hands. Blacksmith Wei Jia-jie protests; salesman Chen Shuen admires him. Chang blinds Chen; Wei is made to swallow a drink that leaves him unable to speak, and when he stays defiant he is beaten deaf. Hu Ah-kue loses his legs when he bumps into Chang. Chen and Hu stay at the smithy, and Wei promises to look after them.
