Plot summary
Frankie Dunlan, a Vietnam veteran, lives in a rundown Staten Island apartment with his wife Cathy and their infant son, whose deformities he blames on chemical weapons used in the war. The couple argue about his unemployment; he has been out of work for four months. At the unemployment office there is nothing for him, and a social worker tells him he has no marketable skills. He calls his father for money, and the man, who believed his son died in Saigon, says he is broke and dying of a heart condition.
