Plot summary
The Stehøe Mountain Hotel stands far from any settlement in Jotunheimen and few guests come. Sigrid and Gunnar run it, and Gunnar locks Sigrid's young son in the basement and abuses him while Sigrid does nothing. The boy is reported missing, and the police believe the cold mountains will have killed him. Twelve years later, Hedda, Anders, Siri, Knut, Magne and Simen are driven into the national park by Sheriff Einar and left to hike. They plan to stay at the hotel, but dust, cobwebs and rats send them to a camp by a river. Simen carries a rifle, and a hooded figure appears among the trees.
