Plot summary
Les is a street legend in Chicago, remembered as The Ghoul, and he has spent years in Joliet for a crime he did not commit. Released at last, he searches the city's back alleys for whoever killed his mother and took his soul. Benefactors he cannot identify come to his aid, and they lead him beneath the streets, into a maze of gutters that spread wide while he was away. That buried place holds a supernatural underworld, one where heroes become horror shows, villains long for their own demise, and good and evil still look like outdated ideas.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Chicago Rot (2016)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Filming on the independent horror film began on 1 November 2011 but had to be abandoned on 20 December 2011 because the production had run out of money, with roughly 60% of the film already shot.
- A trailer for the film caused trouble: Chicago property and business owners who had let the production shoot on their land for free felt misled because the trailer suggested a higher budget, and they renegotiated their rents after new sponsor Steven Nanberg came on board and shooting resumed.
- The film was finished in July 2012 except for one piano scene; after director Dorian Weinzimmer's father died suddenly and unexpectedly in September 2012, he felt unable to shoot it and only managed in April 2013 on Lake Shore Drive.
