Plot summary
A crew of archaeologists is working in the Arctic North when it finds an ancient structure. Objects buried in the sediment and ice at the site are dated to about 14,000 years before the present, near the end of the last ice age. While the team studies the find, its native workers depart, the communications system fails and supply deliveries stop. Professor Piers Olsen and men including Jensen, Francis Månro and Robert Michael Giles are left at the outpost in the solitude.
