Chasing Madoff (2010) on Netflix

Plot summary

For ten years a small group of investigators works to build a case against Bernie Madoff and the operation he runs. Harry Markopolos assembles proof that Madoff is running a Ponzi scheme, and Frank Casey, Neil Chelo, Michael Ocrant and Gaytri Kachroo work the case alongside him. They take their findings to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and to other bodies, pressing them to acknowledge the evidence and act on it. The associates give their own accounts of the pursuit. By their reckoning the scheme took an estimated $18 billion from investors, a figure that rises to $65 billion once the fake returns are counted.
