Plot summary
Charles Beaumont bounces between Chicago and Washington State before settling into a career as a magazine writer, and in his twenties he becomes a top writer at Playboy. He is a mainstay of the original Twilight Zone, writing some of its memorable episodes, and he contributes to Esquire and other major magazines of the day. He later moves into movies, and a circle of writers in Southern California forms around him. At the height of his career strange symptoms appear: slurred speech, balance problems and memory lapses. The cause goes unanswered, whether alcohol abuse, a childhood bout of meningitis or stress.
