Plot summary
On both sides of the United States-Mexico border, citizens take the fight against drug trafficking into their own hands. In Michoacán, the physician José Manuel Mireles Valverde, known as El Doctor, is fed up with the Knights Templar cartel, which has brought years of violence to the state. He gathers residents and leads their uprising, the Autodefensas, driving the cartel from the region. In Arizona, the Altar Valley forms a desert corridor that people call Cocaine Alley, and there the American veteran Tim 'Nailer' Foley is building Arizona Border Recon, a small paramilitary group whose aim is to stop the drug war from moving north across the border.
