Plot summary
In 1983, Seo In-woo is a university student in Seoul. On a rainy night, a woman shares his umbrella on the way to a bus stop, and he feels he has fallen in love at first sight. She is In Tae-hee, who studies art at the same university, and he starts sitting in on her classes so as to be near her. The two grow closer during a trip to the mountains with the school, where Tae-hee gives him a gold lighter engraved with her face. Seventeen years later, In-woo teaches at a high school, is married, and has an infant daughter. Im Hyun-bin, a student given to crude jokes and to chasing a female classmate, joins In-woo's homeroom when the school year begins. In-woo sees in the boy something of Tae-hee.
