Plot summary
Amir rules Kalid, and he is dying. The hope is that his brain can be placed in another body, so he is brought to the United States for the operation. Dr. Trenton, who is to perform it, has waited until the last minute to line up a body, and his disfigured simpleton assistant, sent for one, fails in the errand. The transplant is done with the assistant as the host instead. Trenton also has schemes of his own, and there is a dwarf and a woman kept chained in a basement. Amir's friend Bob and Tracey Wilson are left to try to sort it out.
