Plot summary
James Donovan leaves prison with Jonathan Cold, a former CIA agent who took the job of freeing him, and Cold delivers him to Michael Donovan, an arms dealer and James's brother. The Donovans want Cold's help selling the parts of a small nuclear bomb to Nicholi, who leads a Chechen terrorist group that plans to attack Los Angeles. While Cold carries the deal forward, Amanda Stuart, an agency agent and his onetime protégé, is caught watching the Donovans. Cold gets her away, and the two go on the run, aiming to keep the Donovans from completing the sale and Nicholi's group from carrying out its plan.
