Plot summary
In a remote desert laboratory, scientists experiment with moving matter between dimensions. An experimental drug has produced a side effect called psychic materialization, and General Randolph brings skeptical government officials there to watch a demonstration of it. The project's own researchers had said too little testing had been done to know it was safe. The demonstration goes wrong: a container is opened and a creature from another dimension gets loose in the lab, where it multiplies. Mitchell Carter, an army officer, is given the job of dealing with the creatures, and Lisa Martyn, a psychic, has taken part in the experiments run by Dr. Williams.

- Financing came from Kenneth Hartford's company Eastern Hemisphere, but it collapsed part way through production, leaving the crew stranded and the responsibility with director Ray, who took the footage to the MIFED film market and secured more funding from European investors than they had had before.
- The alien was deliberately made smaller than audiences expect a monster to be, so that it could hide and pop out of tight spaces.
- The film was shot in the San Fernando Valley, an area Ray did not enjoy: it was often uncooperative with their shooting schedule, and more than once the police tried to shut down production despite the crew having permits.
