Plot summary
Alex Mathis works as an exterminator in Los Angeles and is short of money. Bitten by a brown recluse while he deals with a rodent problem at an elderly woman's house, he ends up being treated at a hospital. There, a mortician is bitten when a spider the size of a rodent emerges from a body delivered to the morgue. Hearing of it, Alex offers to deal with the spider if the hospital clears what he owes, and José Ramos, a guard at the hospital, offers to help. In the morgue Alex works out that the spider went into an air vent, so he climbs in after it and stays in touch with José by walkie-talkie. A military task force under Major Braxton Tanner and Lieutenant Karly Brant arrives to examine the body.
