Plot summary
A worldwide community of flat Earth believers defends its reading of the world. Mark Sargent, a prominent proponent, is at the center of it: he records YouTube videos and podcasts, explains his interpretation of flat Earth theory, and travels to gatherings, among them the 2017 International Flat Earth Conference in Raleigh, North Carolina, which drew hundreds of attendees. Patricia Steere, who makes the podcast Flat Earth and Other Hot Potatoes, and Jeran Campanella and Bob Knodel of the GlobeBusters channel are part of the same circles. Astrophysicists at UCLA and Caltech, and an astronaut, are interviewed about the conspiracy theory and about what a shortage of critical thinking can cost a society.
