Plot summary
The Riddler holds secret information about Task Force X and threatens to make it public. Before Amanda Waller can have him silenced, Batman captures him and takes him back to Arkham Asylum. Waller responds by rounding up wanted criminals, among them Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Black Spider, Killer Frost and King Shark, and forcing them into the Suicide Squad with nano-bombs implanted in their necks. Their task is to enter Arkham Asylum and retrieve the information from the Riddler's cane. The squad stops in Gotham City for equipment first. Batman, meanwhile, is looking for the bomb the Joker has hidden in the city.

- Neal McDonough was cast as Deadshot instead of Chris Cox, who voices Deadshot in the Arkham games and instead played Commissioner Jim Gordon here. Matthew Gray Gubler took the Riddler from Wally Wingert and Troy Baker the Joker from Mark Hamill, while Arleen Sorkin and Tara Strong were not brought in as Harley Quinn.
- Director Jay Oliva said that as he prepped the film he thought about directing it like a Guy Ritchie movie, and the film ended up being directed in a style similar to a Poliziotteschi Italian mob film.
- Director Jay Oliva said the score deliberately avoided the operatic, epic music that had been standard in live-action and animated comic-book films for twenty-five years, with producer James Tucker backing a more contemporary take on superhero music.
