Plot summary
Blue, of Jamaican descent, lives in Brixton in 1980 and fronts the Ital Lion dub sound system. He pursues his musical ambitions, hangs out with his friends, loses his job and struggles with family problems. Employers, neighbors and the police meet him with racism and xenophobia, and the National Front is active in the area. His friendships are tested by the racism he meets. Set in Thatcher-era South London, the story centers on sound system culture and on police brutality, poverty and a lack of opportunities. It is partly based on the false imprisonment of a Jamaican sound system operator in the mid-1970s.
