Attica (2021) on Netflix

Plot summary

Fifty years after the uprising at the Attica Correctional Facility, former prisoners, journalists who covered the events, a lawyer and expert government officials give their accounts. Dozens of new interviews were recorded for the film, and the people who speak include men who were held at Attica when the uprising took place. They recall the five-day standoff in 1971, when mostly Black and Latino inmates confronted law enforcement inside the prison. The events gripped America at the time, and the uprising remains the largest in the country's prison history. Members of an observers' committee are among the witnesses whose recollections the documentary gathers.
