Plot summary
Architect Jacob Sterling comes back to his home in Burlwood, California, after a trip to Amityville, and he has brought an old mantel clock with him, found in the ruins of a house there. He sets it on the fireplace and says it is what the house needed. Andrea Livingston, his ex-girlfriend and an art student, has been looking after his teenagers, Lisa and Rusty, while he was away. Amityville has hired Jacob's firm to plan a new neighborhood. The clock behaves strangely. It sticks to the mantel and cannot be moved, and its ticking carries upstairs. In the middle of the night, Rusty flips the living room switch and the room turns into an ancient torture chamber. During a morning jog, a neighbor's dog attacks Jacob's leg.
