Plot summary

Sixteen-year-old Alison Findlay plays with a Ouija board alongside two classmates and gets a warning from beyond the grave: she must not go home for her nineteenth birthday. Nearly three years later she travels to the house of Aunt Jenny and Uncle Dean, who raised her after her mother and father died in a car accident, and her boyfriend Pete comes with her. In the woods she finds a big stone structure like Stonehenge; Uncle Dean explains that the previous owner, a fan of ancient history and astronomy, put it up. A strange elderly woman wakes her in the night, and Jenny says the woman is Grandmother Thorne, 103, whom Alison has never met. Dean and Jenny dislike Pete and try to keep him away from her.
