Plot summary
Ricky, whose full name is Ramakrishna, chases one ambition: a place in RAW and a mission big enough to save the planet. His attempts have failed so far. The RAW chief Mahadev, after watching him, hands him a risky task he calls the most important the agency has known. Ricky is to pass himself off as a rookie, work his way into the close circle of a man named Dharma, and capture him. A private terror organization called The Syndicate answers to the central minister Jitendra Reddy and to a figure known as God. The mission is kept from even the prime minister of India.

- After Agent flopped at the box office despite decent expectations, producer Sunkara and actor Akhil apologised, admitting the film had gone into production without a bound script.
- Mammootty was signed for the military officer role in Agent only after Mohanlal was approached and Upendra was considered, with his casting confirmed in June 2021.
- Thaman S was first chosen to compose the film's score and soundtrack, but in September 2021 he was replaced by the duo Hiphop Tamizha, their second collaboration with Surender Reddy after Dhruva (2016).
