Plot summary
After the war, Bob Mitchell cannot remember anything about himself. He is English, a circus acrobat who lived in America for years and picked up an American accent. With no identity tags on him, doctors take him for an American and send him to a hospital in the United States. Lesley, who writes for a magazine there, hears about his case. The clues to who he is are five bank notes, each from a different country and each carrying a woman's name. Lesley's magazine pays for a trip to those countries.
