Plot summary
Niko Fischer, in his twenties, has dropped out of law school. He slips away from his girlfriend's apartment, carries boxes into a new one, and opens a letter reminding him of an appointment he is late for: a state psychologist, who will decide whether he gets his driver's license back after a driving under the influence charge. On the way, a fashionable coffee shop turns him away for lack of money and an ATM eats his card. His friend Matze, a failed actor, takes him to lunch, where the coffee machine is broken, and then to a movie set. A former classmate, Julika, now an avant-garde dancer, invites them to her performance that night. Niko's father finally returns his call and asks him to play golf.
