Plot summary
Dennis Nash, a single father in Orlando, Florida, has lost his construction job. He shares a house with his mother, Lynn, and his young son, Connor. When the bank forecloses, the real estate operator Rick Carver handles the eviction, and the family takes a room in a motel. Dennis goes to Carver's office to demand the return of tools that Carver's crew took from him. Carver is impressed by his nerve and hires him as a repairman. Dennis becomes his assistant, helping carry out evictions and learning the schemes that turn banking and government rules against struggling homeowners. With the money he earns, he starts to live the way Carver lives.
