Plot summary

Structured as a visual letter to his four-year-old daughter Velvet, the film follows a father as he imagines what 2040 could look like if the world adopted the best available climate solutions. He investigates ideas that either exist now or could be widely used by that year. In Bangladesh, rooftop solar supports micro-grids that let communities generate, own and trade their own power. He considers how self-driving cars and ride-sharing might reduce car ownership and allow cities to be redesigned with more green space. Regenerative farming, he learns, can cut emissions, store carbon and hold water better, while plant-rich diets also help. Seaweed ecosystems in the open ocean could provide food and restore marine life. Education and empowerment for women and girls give them more control over their lives.
