Plot summary
Marshal Richard 'Dick' Dix is a special agent whose rescue of a fast food restaurant from a hostage standoff earns him the displeasure of Police Chief Halverson. Back at the station he meets his boss, Secretary Osgood, and Cassandra Menage, who has come with her account of the cloning of the President. Reports say the real President is a prisoner on Vegan, a moon base that houses a cloning operation, and that a copy of him now sits in the White House. Dix is picked for the mission. On arrival at the colony, Lt. Bradford Shitzu meets him, aliens who live there figure in strange incidents, and Dr. Griffin Pratt, the leading suspect, offers him a tour of the cloning facility.
