Plot summary
Janardhan Gambhira, a short-tempered landlord, lives in Kamarottu, a village in Karnataka ringed by tropical rainforest where strange events are blamed on a Brahmarakshasa, with his wife Shaku and his brother Eknath. Vishwanath, a friend's son, comes with his family; his daughter Panna is engaged and wants the wedding at the ancestral house. Janardhan refuses, saying the house has been haunted since Sanju, his son, was blamed for a temple jewel theft twenty-eight years earlier.
