Plot summary
Amareshwara, a maharaja and a freedom fighter, is killed by the British in 1945, and his wife Tulasi Devi and their sons Arkeshwara and Sankeshwara move to Amarapura, where the family sells flags. By 1971 Arkeshwara is an air force pilot, and Sankeshwara set aside his own wish to fly so that his brother could join. Arkeshwara comes home on leave to his mother and to Madhumati, his girlfriend and the daughter of Veer Bahaddur, the maharaja of Amarapura. Three gangsters, Khaleed, Bagheera and Malik, have long fought over the city. Ghanshyam Pandey, the chief minister, learns that Veer Bahaddur intends to stand for the post himself, and hires Khaleed to bring chaos to Amarapura.
