Plot summary
Nikki earns his living as an usher at a Bengaluru cinema that Shankranna owns, and he cannot sleep. Gangsters press Shankranna for the theatre over an old debt. From a dealer Nikki buys Lucia, a pill that lets a user dream the life he wants; when the pills stop, those dreams turn into nightmares. In them he lives as Nikhil, a screen actor in a world shot in black and white and filled with dream versions of the people he knows. Shwetha, a waitress in his waking hours, is a model there, and when he courts her she turns him down over his low income.

- Lucia was funded by 110 investors who contributed through a Facebook page and a blog run by director-actor Pawan Kumar, making it the first Kannada movie to bypass the traditional film financing model.
- After two months of struggling to find producers and top actors for Lucia, Pawan Kumar wrote a blog post titled Making Enemies; three days after it was published the overwhelming response led him to invite people to produce the film.
- Pawan Kumar initially offered the lead role in Lucia to model-turned-actor Diganth, but Diganth was replaced by Sathish Ninasam, who had until then played supporting roles in many Kannada films.
- Lucia, released by Anand Video Studio in Blu-ray, HD DVD, DVD 5.1 and VCD formats, was the first Kannada film to come out on Blu-ray.
