Plot summary

Rani goes missing in Madurai. Her father, SP Arokiya Raj, a police officer in Chennai before his retirement, learns of it when her severed index finger is found at his door, and he asks his former colleague DCP Raghavan for help. Raghavan recovers the body within twelve hours; forensic reports describe a throat cut with a scalpel and a body split with an axe, which points to a killer with surgical training. The case then goes cold. Arokiya Raj and his wife Chithra move to New York City, and six months later both are murdered there. Raghavan flies to New York to work with NYPD Detective Anderson, and during the stay he saves Aradhana, an Indian woman in the middle of a painful divorce, from a suicide attempt.
