Plot summary
A routine tow takes Mater to Tokyo, where a gang leader and a crew of ninjas challenge him to a drift-style race. Mater's friend Lightning McQueen, who goes by Dragon, joins the effort, and a set of special modifications is readied. Mater wants the title of Tow-ke-O Mater, King of all Drifters, and drifting is what he has to do to get it.

- A fifth Tales from Radiator Springs short, "To Protect and Serve", was announced by director Rob Gibbs at the 2013 Disney D23 Expo, then went unreleased for unknown reasons. It still spawned merchandise, including die-cast models and a book with images from the short.
