Plot summary

Chris Bradley served in the U.S. Army and has been drifting since, picking up money in whatever ways come along. He comes back to Pittsburgh and visits his father, who runs a baby food factory and expects him to take his place there, as the two agreed when Chris left the military. Chris refuses. Out drinking with his father that evening, he looks up an old girlfriend, Terri Terrific. At a train station he meets Lynn, a model and actress who appears in local television commercials, and talks his way into her life. He moves in with her, and he comes to lean on her for money and emotional support.
