Plot summary
Montag the Magnificent speaks about the nature of reality, then performs his mutilation tricks on women he calls up from the audience. Each volunteer leaves the stage unharmed and the crowd applauds. The same women are afterward found dead, their bodies bearing the injuries the act only appeared to inflict. Sherry Carson, a local television talk show hostess, and her boyfriend Jack look into how the magician is connected to the corpses. Jack and fellow reporter Greg try to research the case but come up with no solid evidence, and the police cannot tie the deaths to Montag.
