Plot summary

Late in the Ming dynasty, a manual of martial arts secrets, the Sunflower Manual, vanishes from the imperial palace. Gu Jinfu, an Eastern Depot eunuch, is ordered to get it back, and his men pursue the thief, Lin Zhennan, and wound him. Ling Wu Chung and Kiddo, both of the Mount Hua Sect, step in and save him. Wounded, Lin Zhennan asks them to carry word to his son, Lin Pingzhi, of where the manual is hidden. On the way to rejoin their Mount Hua Sect fellows, they cross paths with Liu Zhengfeng and Qu Yang, two men leaving the martial world. Zuo Lengshan of the Eastern Depot arrives with his men to arrest the pair.
