Plot summary
Rio de Janeiro stages Carnival, a spectacle millions of people around the world watch, and the parades depend on samba. Each year the schools need a new samba and a new theme, and there is always anticipation over which samba will be chosen next. Estação Primeira de Mangueira enters Carnival 2016 after fourteen years without a contest title, and viewers rarely see how the show is put together or what the project means socially, culturally and economically for the community behind it. Thousands of people spend a year on the effort, and cameras follow the making of the parade from its earliest planning.
