Plot summary
Professor Nolter is a genetic scientist who runs illegal experiments on the side of his college teaching. He mates flesh-eating Venus flytraps with students he takes out of his own class, and he describes his aim as a leap to the next stage of human evolution: plants that walk and men that take root. The experiments that go wrong leave him with mutants, and the mutants are handed to Mr. Lynch, the cruel owner of a circus freak show, who puts them on display. Other acts in that sideshow include the Human Pretzel, the Alligator Lady, the Monkey Woman and the Human Pincushion.

- The Mutations was the last film directed by Jack Cardiff, who afterwards returned to working full-time in cinematography rather than continuing as a director.
