Plot summary
A wooden box arrives at the hard rock station in Salem, Massachusetts, where Heidi Hawthorne works as a disc jockey with Whitey and Munster. Inside is a record credited to the Lords. Heidi, a recovering drug addict, and Whitey play it and hear ominous music for strings and woodwinds. Heidi envisions women who worship Satan ritually giving birth to a baby and damning the child. When the station airs the record, women across Salem enter trances. Megan, a palm reader and the sister of Heidi's landlady Lacy, tells Heidi she is fated to give in to dark sexual desires.

- Veteran actor Richard Lynch, in worsening health and close to blindness, could not remember his lines for the opening sequence with Michael Berryman, Haig and Andrew Prine, and could not read a declaration of judgement aloud either, so the actors were sent home and Rob Zombie reshot the scenes with Prine. Lynch died in 2012 and this was his last film.
- Bruce Dern was originally cast as Francis Matthias but had to drop out because of scheduling conflicts, and the part went instead to Bruce Davison.
