Plot summary
Clint Hollister sits in the Morganville jail until Jake Wade, his one-time partner in a bank robbery, springs him to settle an old debt. The two have not met since the hold-up and a killing that put Jake behind bars, and neither hides his hostility. Jake will not say where the $20,000 is hidden and tells Hollister to leave the territory. He goes back to his marshal's post in Cold Stream and to Peggy, the woman he is engaged to marry. Hollister and his gang find him there, abduct Peggy and haul Jake away bound, insisting that he lead them to the buried money.
