Plot summary
Earth has been contaminated and left mostly empty by wars over shrinking resources. Ewa, a soldier's daughter, lives by herself at a fortified camp ringed with solar panels, keeping the installation running and sweeping the radio for any sign that someone else is alive. Her only companion is Artur, a military patrol robot that was decommissioned and reassigned to watch the perimeter. It will not let her inside unless she gives a password, which is changed from time to time. A routine system update rewrites that code and Ewa does not register it. Returning from an expedition, she cannot authenticate herself. Artur recognizes her, but its protocol will not let her in. She is shut out of her own shelter, with no food or water, while the contamination wears her down.

- The film's scorched post-apocalyptic landscape was a real coal-mine spoil tip: the "Skalny" tip, managed by the Bolesław Śmiały coal mine in Łaziska Górne, stood in for the wasteland, and Piotr Biedroń said he chose it after filming there on an earlier commission.
- The wasteland set was assembled partly from scrap taken from the coal mine's own scrapyard; the build took three weeks, weighed several dozen tonnes and had to be moved with cranes.
