Plot summary
Sarah Goodwin is withdrawn, with a gift for controlling and destroying with her mind. She drives to college with her sister Patty, and both mean to join Alpha Nu Sigma, the sorority their mother belonged to. At the rush week party the Alpha Nu girls welcome Patty and send Sarah to the refreshment table, then to the rival Phi Epsilon Delta house. Alpha Nu Sigma's president, Jennifer Lawrence, tells Patty not to speak to her sister. Phi Epsilon Delta's house mother, Mrs. Hunter, sees what Sarah can do and wants it used against Alpha Nu Sigma. Sarah also meets Paul Yates, a teaching assistant in her psychology classes.

- Morgan Fairchild said she signed on for the shower scene wearing a body stocking, but on the day of the shot it was suggested she do it nude; she partially acquiesced and performed topless, and the scene touched off bad feelings among the cast and crew.
- The film caused controversy when it first aired on ABC in 1978 because its plot had Morgan Fairchild wearing a wet T-shirt after being thrown into a fountain, something that had not been shown before in a made-for-TV movie.
- Morgan Fairchild initially regretted playing Jennifer in the 1978 film, but changed her mind after producer Chuck Fries told her that while an ingenue was easy to find, someone who could play a convincing "bitch" was not.
