Plot summary
Mark Kendrick, an American pulp novelist, meets his wealthy neighbors across the lake. Beverly Forrest treats Mark as a friend, while Beverly's wife Carol married an older man for his money and has long amused herself with affairs. Carol seduces Mark, and when he lets slip that Beverly intends to cut her out of his will, she fixes her attention on him. Carol seeks Mark's help in getting rid of her husband.
