Plot summary
Steve and Sharon and Charlie and Teddi, two couples from Los Angeles, leave the city for a camping trip in the Sierra Nevada. Sharon and Teddi set out ahead of their husbands and, caught in a thunderstorm, pitch camp beside a waterfall. Ghosts of two children, John and Jennifer, look on from a cave close by, and an apparition of the children's mother appears to the women, demanding to know where her children have gone. Steve and Charlie, following behind, lose their way as night falls. In the woods, the children's father, John Sr., keeps a furnished cave and hunts the hikers who pass through, and the children bring him word of two women camped by the river.
