Plot summary
Ming China, an aspiring imperial power, sees Joseon as an obstacle to its expansion, and under King Sejong the Korean crown endures one demand after another. When news leaks that Korea has an arms development program underway, the pressure from Ming grows harsher. The Emperor commands tribute of young Korean girls, meant to drain the kingdom's manpower and weaken its military, and invasion stands behind every demand. King Sejong's answer is a secret weapon meant to defend Joseon's territory, and the kingdom's fate rests on finishing a project left incomplete: the Singijeon, or Divine Weapon, Korea's version of the Chinese fire arrow.
