Plot summary
A meteor crashes in the New Jersey woods, and the alien inside kills the campers who come to look at it. The creature then makes its way into the basement of a house nearby, home to Sam and Barb and their sons, Pete and Charles. Sam goes down to check the flooded cellar and is killed; Barb follows and meets the same end. Aunt Millie and Uncle Herb, visiting, assume the couple has left on their trip. Charles, who loves monsters and magic tricks, sneaks into the basement in costume to scare the electrician working there and finds it crawling with small slug-like creatures and their three-headed parent. Pete, who is interested in science, has invited classmates Ellen, Frankie and Kathy for a study session.
