Plot summary
Rebecca Miles relocates to Collingswood, New Jersey, to attend Rutgers University and rents a room in a historic house, while her boyfriend Johnny stays behind. On her twenty-first birthday he gives her a webcam so the two can keep up their long-distance relationship over video chat. Johnny's friend Billy introduces him to Vera Madeline, an online psychic Billy says contacted his deceased father. Rebecca is skeptical and arranges a session of her own, giving a false name that Vera nevertheless sees through. When Johnny takes his turn, Vera speaks of Collingswood's grim history and a secret society founded by Alan Tashi, who murdered nine girls in the 1800s. She tells Johnny that Rebecca is a sensitive with important information to share, and urges him to send her back.
