Plot summary
Steven Hayes and Joshua Komisarjevsky, two ex-convicts, break into the family home of William Petit in Cheshire, Connecticut, in the early hours of July 23, 2007. William Petit is a doctor. His wife, Jennifer, and their daughters, Michaela, eleven, and Hayley, seventeen, are in the house. The men beat William Petit and tie him to a pole in the basement. They bind Jennifer and the two girls in their bedrooms. The men ransack the house while the three women are bound.
