Plot summary
Jim Majelewski is a bright high school student with a taste for pranks, in a town whose residents have fallen under the influence of Dr. Blake and the alien organism he calls The Brain. Blake's television self-help program, Independent Thinking, spreads his brainwashing and mind control. After Jim is caught flushing sodium down a school toilet, he is warned that more pranks will cost him his graduation, and he agrees to enter Blake's program instead. The experiments do not take hold on Jim, who begins to have visions of The Brain and other hallucinations. His girlfriend Janet and his best friend Willie try to shield him when Blake's assistant Verna comes to take him back to the lab.
