Plot summary
Lacey lives on her aunt and uncle's farm with her husband Jake, their son Kevin, and her brother Willy, who has not spoken since the night he killed their mother's lover. Lacey still has nightmares of that night, and when a letter arrives from her dying mother asking to see her children, Willy burns it. She confesses her nightmares to Father Reilly, and Jake takes her to Dr. Warren, who hypnotizes her. As she recalls the killing, her voice turns guttural, and the doctor sends her to the house where it happened. The house is up for sale, and the children there mistake Lacey and Jake for buyers. In the empty bedroom, Lacey sees the dead man's reflection in a mirror and throws a chair at the glass. Jake carries the broken mirror home to repair it.
