Plot summary
Joanne, a teenager, has her first important violin solo, and her father Ian has to miss it, which disappoints her deeply. Strange forces begin to fill the family's household and settle mostly on Ian, and they are preceded by prophetic nightmares of an evil that stays unseen. Ian has more to face than a teenager's sulking, because Joanne is not an ordinary girl.

- Finance for The Appointment came from the National Coal Board Pension Fund, which had already invested in Goldcrest Films titles including Gandhi.
- The Appointment exists only as a one-inch broadcast tape kept in the Sony Pictures archive. The original film negative has never been found.
