Plot summary
Raju fishes out of Matchilesam, a village near Srikakulam, and, like his late father, has become the thandel, the captain of his boat. He and Sathya have loved each other since they were young, and he seeks her out whenever he returns from a voyage. Sathya fears the dangers of his work and asks him to find safer employment so that they can have a peaceful future. He cannot let go of the sea and sets out again with the men he fishes with. A storm strikes, the crew pulls several Pakistani fishermen from the water, and the boat ends up in Pakistani waters, where the navy arrests Raju and twenty-two other fishermen.

- The song "Namo Namah Shivaya", a dance sequence dedicated to Lord Shiva, was shot with a budget of ₹4 crores and featured 900 trained dancers.
- The film is adapted from a real 2018 incident in which Srikakulam fishermen were swept into Pakistani waters and arrested; producer Allu Aravind contacted the 20 people who had served time in Pakistani prisons and got their authorisation.
- A high-definition copy of the film leaked online on premiere day, and the makers threatened legal action against pirates, but producer Bunny Vasu later regretted the press conference, saying it made more viewers aware of piracy and made the problem worse.
